Our translation programme of identifying strong works in other languages is a continuing feature of our list.

The list below gives a summary of books that are due in translation from Parthian or written originally in English that maybe of interest to translators and publishers in other languages.

Sota la pols by Jordi Coca first published in 2001 in Catalan appears in English as Under the Dust in March 2007. This novel won the premi Sant Jordi in Barcelona on publication. Translated by Richard Thomson.

Fever by the emerging Irish writer Gerard Feehily will be published in November 2007.

Martha, Jac a Sianco will be published in English for the first time in 2007. This novel won the National Eisteddfod Prose Medal in 2005 in Welsh and the Welsh Book of the Year Award in 2005 for its author Caryl Lewis. Translated by Gwen Davies.

The Bridge Across the River will be the first novel in English for the German writer Johannes Gramich in 2008.

Look Me in the Eye (Mira’m als Ulls) will be the first novel in English for the Catalan writer Sílvia Soler in the Spring of 2008. Translated by Richard Thomson.

The Basque Country is represented by a selection of stories from writers including Bernardo Atxaga, Iban Zaldua and Arantxa Iturbe which will be published in late 2007.

Olga Merino's novel Espuelas de Papel is translated by Welsh novelist Aneurin Gareth Thomas as Paper Spurs. Thomas's own novel, Luggage from Elsewhere is published by Parthian in 2006.

Continuing the Spanish theme in 2008 will be the first English translation of Ignacio Martínez de Pisóns' fascinating civil war account entitled Enterrar a los Muertos by award winning translator Anne McLean as To Bury the Dead.

Kilburn Hoodoo by Hayley Long and The Long Dry by Cynan Jones are two strong novels that expected to generate a lot of translation interest in 2007.

Welsh writers who we publish have recently been translated or are due to appear in Spanish, Russian, Italian, Czech, Portuguese and Danish.

Richard Gwyn's novel The Colour of a Dog Running Away will be appearing in five languages in 2006/7 in addition to United States publication with Doubleday in the Spring of 2007.

Jo Mazelis's selected stories Diving Girls will be appearing in Danish.

The Tower by Tristan Hughes will be appearing in Czech.

Rachel Trezise's first book In and Out of the Goldfish Bowl has been published in Italian by Einaudi as La Mia Pelle Sporca.

Our Library of Wales series includes the Gwyn Thomas classic The Dark Philosophers which will be appearing in Spanish in 2008 with Siruela Editions.

Robin Llewelyn's Welsh novel Seren Wen, which appeared in English as White Star translated by Gwen Davies has also appeared in French. The French translation Etoile blanche sur fond blanc is the work of Marie-Thérèse Castay and is published by Terre de Brume in their Bibliothèque galloise series. Robinís collection of stories Y Dwr Mawr Llwyd (The Big Grey Water) will appearing in English in 2008 from the Irish translator Diarmuid Johnson with Parthian.
